If you are ready to train for a triathlon and you aren't sure how you're going to train or where you will train, there are some things you have to take into consideration. You have to make sure you that you are training on your bike and in the water, on top of your regular running and cross training routine. Here are a few things you'll have to look into after you start downloading workouts online, and getting your schedule or your training.

Pool Membership

You will need to have a membership to some type of pool or athletic facility that has a pool to train for the swimming portion of the event. Although outdoor lakes and ponds are great for training, if you want to stick to a strict training schedule you need to have an area where you can swim no matter what the weather is like outside, and at different times throughout the day. You won't just want to swim, and you want to train in the following ways:

  • Water aerobics
  • Water weight training and strength building
  • Endurance exercises and breathing

You may even be able to get athletic bands and other equipment in the pool, depending on the rules and the supplies available.

Bike Rental

If you don't have the money to go out and buy an expensive training bike, find out if you can rent a bike from one of your local cycling shops, like The Bike Shack LLC. Renting a bike allows you to find out what type of bike you want to buy if you decide that you want to invest in a bike, and you don't have to put out hundreds of dollars or more at once.

Running Shoes

The running shoes are something that you have to spend the money on. You want a great pair of shoes that are going to be comfortable for training and even an option for race day if you don't want to buy two pairs of shoes. Get fitted for a pair by professionals and chose shoes that are the best design for your body shape and running style.

Training for a triathlon will take a lot of dedication and hard work, and you need to have the right equipment and facilities if you want the event to be a success. Consider all of these different needs and prioritize them with your budget to get the training sessions in that you need.
